Four of the seven extant species of sea turtles nest in Guinea-Bissau. The Institute of Biodiversity and Protected Areas (IBAP) of Guinea-Bissau manages sea turtle conservation through the creation and management of protected areas, participatory monitoring, education, and collaboration with national and international NGOs and research institutions.
